Bold Predictions

I, like many Raider faithful, am very excited about the direction the team has taken since the end of last season. After looking at all of our changes I feel like making a few bold predictions.

1) We will win at least two divisional games this season.

I think Kiffin will appease Al Davis in his first season as head coach by ending our streak of losses against our AFC West opponents.

2) We will not finish last in the AFC West

The AFC West has always been one of the toughest divisions in the league but I believe we will finish ahead of the Chiefs this season.

3) We will be in the Super Bowl in the next 4 years

This is by far my boldest prediction but I say it with confidence. We have an extremely talented defense that should continue to improve with time and a player to build our offense around. I think Russell will be one of the elite guys in the league when he gets some experience under his belt and I am hopeful that Michael Bush becomes the back to finally compete with the other AFC West backs.

all it takes is for Russell to pan out. We already have a talented young defense. If our offense can become decent, it is not a stretch.

uh..no it realy is quite a stretch, and by stretch I mean impossible.

and by talented you meant...eh...huh? Your D is one of the worst in the league and your offense is worse.

I'll take it a step further...we'll be playing in the AFC Championship game in two years, and in the Super Bowl in three. We have the defense to do it. The addition of Darius pretty much solidifies the secondary, that got robbed of two pro bowl slots (Fabian Washington & Nnamde Asmouga). The d-line with Sapp down about 25lbs gives us more speed and an even stronger pass rush. We'll be top 3 in D this year.

The success of our offense hinges on our o-line. It was absolutely horrendous last year. Gallery hasn't panned out at tackle, so we'll see what he can do at guard. The o-line has to give D-Pep some time in the pocket to stretch the field. In fact, J-Marc will be his understudy and will learn the game from one of the better veteran QB's in the NFL.

I'm looking at an 11-5 in 2007-08...

Well you may be hoping for a 11-5 but what you got so far is a 0-2. Completely predictable though. Sad start but expected for the worst team in the NFL. What was that record they got going right now? Oh yea..most losses in a row in the NFL. Congrats on that trophy. I hope its at least shiny and uncumbersome cuz you will be holding that title for years to come. My prediction...5-11 and 5 wins for your high school caliber team is a long shot in itself!

Been watching your site for about a month now...no new predictions? I saw the loss to the Denver Broncos. Don't feel bad, the outcome is widely accepted as what was going to happen anyhow. Going into Denver and getting a win is like trying to break into a bank during bank hours screaming "I HAVE NO GUN BUT WANT TO TAKE YOUR MONEY! HAND IT OVER!" and getting away with 5 million dollars and driving away in the cop car sitting out front with the cop in the car. Can't be done. At least not by the Raiders. Good luck on your season though. Be happy with 6 wins. 7 tops. If your lucky.

The Raiders gambled with McFadden but I think it was a good pick. Draft for talent, not need, as I preach on my blog.

I don't agree with the Raiders making the superbowl anytime soon. JaMarcus is not the answer at QB.

As long as Al Davis is alive and running the team, they will never so much as make the playoffs. Davis is senile and clueless. Success in football starts with the lines, yet Davis is obsessed with speedy, flashy players and neglects the fact that the lines suck. Year after year we see the same thing. Know why? Cause they have done NOTHING to improve the lines.

all i could say is man i hope your right. i have been faithful to the raiders for almost all my life. these past years has not been easy as a fan and has been a real disapointment. i am sure alot can relate to the way i feel. its been along time comming and i think the raider nation is more than worthly of a winning season. we have the best fans in the league and no one can argue with that. however i believe the only way the raiders can move foward and get back to that commitment to excellence is if al davis either steps down as owner or backs up. let the coach run his team! kifflin is good for the team. the players like him and have been playing hard for him. that is a positive formula for success. if kifflin leaves than no one will want to be the next head coach. there needs to be a good relationship between the owner and coach. not tension. no positive will come out of this. the team is young and has already had 4-5 diff coaches. another coach will not solve anything in the development of a young team. i know the raiders have blew 2 4th quarter leads in the past 2 weeks but since when has the raiders even had leads to blow? or have played 3 solid quarters of football? raiders are playing better football than they have in years. they are not where they need to be yet but they are a work in progress and will get there sooner than later. al davis needs to swallow his pride and let kifflin run his team.

I totally agree. Raiders fan for life here. I'm disgusted with Al Davis and ashamed of how this has played out. Where do we go from here? I think down, as far as we can go until we can go no lower (& we are close). At which point, either Al has a stroke or comes to his senses and retires with that colastamy (sp) bag he's hiding under that jump suit.

The NFL Draft is working with Boston University's Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy to study brain trauma in football. The league will ask former and current NFL players to donate their brains to science. Presumably, with fancy boxes to ship the brains, like they do for Super Bowl rings.
Page 2 loves this idea.
Scientists could study Mark Sanchez's brain to find out what he doesn't understand about the words "double-covered." They could study Tony Sparano's brain to find out what he sees in Pat White that no one else does. And they could look at Brett Favre's brain on the subject of waffling.

I'm mixed though in the end IF he can get a big paycheck for one year he should do it. The problem is I think there is little chance he will get that 'IF.'

He is way to injury prone. Has numerous solid games but when has he ever taken over a game? He does not have NFL speed and the bruising style of run isn't going to be as shocking to NFL linemen and linebackers who can run him down every play, they have that speed.

Bottom line, Harvey Unga is a tremendous college football player. He is like Bosco, McCoy, etc. Great college legacy and didn't go anywhere in the NFL. There is no shame in that. Some running back from Po-dunk State College will get drafted and spend the next 10 years doing it in the NFL, just how it works.

If Unga has a big game against Oregon St then he may get a 5th or 6th round draft, and maybe spend a year on the practice squad. If he doesn't have a big game against Oregon State, come back for your senior year.NFL Draft
